"only"... What's wrong with "only" writing off the cost of materials and supplies?
Sure, all Artists would like to be "full time" and get paid handsomly. But that's not how this world is... is it?
Let the individual Artists decide whether to donate or not. Your coercion is just as bad as that of the charity organization(s).
Here's a reality check for you... If you're an Artist simply for the $ profits, then you're in the wrong business my friend!
