Basically, we have a test app that we want to import a number of potential companies into, we then want to be able to parse the companies based on a few customized fields, we want the basis of this select/parsing to form the initial list that we'll call our potential "leads" (for lack of a better term). This will comprise a list of ~1000 companies.
We'll be calling these companies, and when we get a positive reply, we want to be able to put the company/contact into our "account" TBL/list...
So, right now, I'm trying to figure out how one can do data massaging within the SugarCRM app, in order to move/promote the initial information into the leadTBL, and then to move the "lead" to the AccountTBL"...

The setup task is to import some Shapefile basemaps for Texas. Further, train someone unfamiliar with GIS to use the program to create a polygon in a new layer. This will be after you've learned GRASS well. The bulk of the tasks is to take maps drawn from field agents and use them to create new polygons. Over and over and over. Dreary, repetitive and boring.
Finally, help design the process and procedures for updating our layers. The data must be exportable for ESRI Arc products.
There will then be need for periodic gigs every month to do work. After the pilot gets scaled to production, we will need to hire a full time GIS guru. Whoever gets this gig will have a preferential shot at that.
It's apparently not as simple as setting up vhost/redirects in the httpd.conf file along with doing the port forwarding redirect at the router.

I have a small budget for this. I just started a managed service company, which uses Kaseya for remote management. Up until now, there were only Windows based clients. After Friday, we will also have Mac OSX and Linux clients. I would prefer to find one or two knowledgeable individuals who can help on a contract basis. We will be using Linux and either Quantum GIS or GRASS. We need a script/module/plugin that will let us click on the POB then type in the metes and bounds description and a polygon is created in a new layer. We then want to grab the layer and tweak it to fit exactly the ownership parcel data layer we will have.
Script needs to do a check to make sure it closes the polygon. I have no idea how it needs to handle the working projection. But assume NAD83
