- PHP4/PHP5 development - 2+ years at least
- MySQL databases - comfortable in phpmyadmin and command line
- Javascript - experience with jQuery is super!
- Intermediate LAMP stack administration - Linux command line, standard hosting practices.
- HTML/CSS familiarity - not expecting you to be a designer, expecting you to make changes & fixes.
- Strong written communication and time organization skills. I would want to get updates from you frequently, and would rather here how late something is going to be and why than to hear nothing at all with an ontime delivery.
We typically see bugfixing, maintenance, and moderate development. We aren't building big projects or cathedrals of code from the ground up, so if you're looking for the bleeding edge or to make a huge name for yourself...this probably isn't the right gig. We use CakePHP, Symfony, Joomla, Wordpress, and have custom codebases as well. Some of it is fairly ugly and old PHP4 - it still needs love!
We can pay competitive hourly rates, but do substantial work with nonprofits, so the highest end isn't always possible. Always willing to negotiate.
