One masterpiece deserves another. Appropriately, Ballet Austin closes its 51st season, Dreams… Realized, with its inaugural performance at Joe R. and Terry Lozano Long Center for the Performing Arts as a Founding Resident Company. First performed for Russian royalty in 1869 by the “father of classical ballet,” Marius Petipa, Ballet Austin's exquisite sets and costumes heighten the excitement, humor and beauty of this historic masterpiece.
Based on one of the most influential works of modern literature, Don Quixote is a production worthy of Ballet Austin's long-awaited, first performance at the Long Center—itself a momentous moment for the company and the arts in Central Texas. The grand story of the famed dreamer from La Mancha gallops onto The Long Center’s Michael and Susan Dell Hall stage Mother's Day weekend as Ballet Austin presents artistic director Stephen Mills’ interpretation of 17th century Spanish classic. Austin is invited to join Ballet Austin as the dream of the Long Center is realized!
