I am an acoustic guitar player of many years (although admittedly still a bit weak in the area of theory, but usually can make up for that by "playing by ear") and have, in the past at least, written a number of folk/acoustic type songs; I also am of late constantly having ideas for new songs come over me (sort of like being possessed it feels at times?).
The catch about me, as far as I am concerned, is that I cannot really sing. I can sing in key but I just do not have a very "nice" voice (sounds somewhat like Johnny Cash gargling carpet nails to me, and my breathing management is way off), and the songs that I write I have always imagined would sound best being sung by a female. There is no solid reason for this assumption, just something I've always "felt" was correct. By way of example, I imagine my stuff being sung by a Joan Baez, or perhaps Emily Sailers (Indigo Girls) type voice. That is also what I would call the "genre" of the type of songs I come up with most of the time.
I would be interested in discussing any and all things through email at the outset, eventually determining if we match on anything at the musical level! Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you!
P.S. I have of late been getting a few responses from people who do not seem to understand what "folk" (or even acoustic) music is supposed to sound like and then seem surprised when I send them a sample of my music, so please try to be clear about this when responding to my ad...thank you
P.S.S. I suppose I should add to this latest posting "serious inquiries only"; last time I seem to have gotten responses from a few who, after just an email or two, dropped off the face of the Earth, with NO idea on my part why that was, excect that (and take special note of this all you out there who write your own music or lyrics) usually the ones who stopped writing did so very soon after they had initially asked for a copy of one of my songs and I did not send that to them immediatly. Please do not email me about playing music and ask at the outset for me to upload to you my catalogue of music; there is plenty of time for that after the basics (like whether you even have anything in common or to say in a normal conversation together? Collaborators must also "get along") have been determined through patient communication.
