The stuff about Einstein is mostly rubbish. He didn't even really like math and certainly would not have considered himself a mathematician. Special Relativitiy was published in 1905, and he continued his job at the Swiss patent office until getting a minor post at the University of Bern in 1908. Maybe you're thinking of Kafka ;-)
