Bottom line, the stage performance and song structure always comes first. And I'll be honest, I physically play the bass well but couldn't for the life of me tell you what key I'm playing in most of the time. My improv abilities are basically non-existent. BUT I do know what sounds good and I can sing. If you're the patient type that doesn't mind noodling to find what works best than WE...WANT...YOU.

We are very intellectual about our music and spend up to 5 days a week solidifying what we have. We are currently working on this new prroject and hoping to keep it to 4 members. Guitar, Drums, Bass, and Vocals. We are what you might call Progressive/Technical but we'd prefer no labels. We do play in dropped B and thus would need a 5-String Bass player or some epic dropped B Bass. Our influences vary from Animals as Leaders, Between the Buried and me, Born of Osiris, Mastadon, Veil of Maya, Scale the Summit, Dream Theater, Tool, Disturbed, Lamb of God, Drake (hip hop/rap artist), Trivium, Eric Johnson, and many more.
I play bass/guitar passably, so I'm sure I can't play up to the level you do (hopefully). All of this was basically recorded in my house and I was using garageband, so understand if these recordings aren't of the best sound quality. Also, I am not a singer/lyricist whatsoever, so there are no vocals.
I'd like to just make this a 3-piece band, so ideally I would like to find someone who can handle themselves on bass or guitar and also considers themselves to be a good singer. If not, no big deal - a singer could come later. Also, it's not as if I expect you to just play stuff that I write. I want people who are into the collaborative process and bring their own thing to the table.

You must be dedicated, experienced playing the larger venues, great attitude, and down to earth. i.e., Don't expect to get paid, and I hope you like sleeping on floors next to cat litter boxes.
Those songs were recorded in late 2006. We wrote alot of music as a band that unfortunately was never recorded before our bass player left a few months ago.
We want to start a new band with new songs, name, and a new sound. You will be one third of the band and one third of how we ultimately sound.
Quality over complexity, technical but tasteful, funky, groovy, melodic, somewhat progressive but catchy. 3-5 minute songs. Something different but with familiar elements that everyone can appreciate.
We are very dedicated to making music together and take this band and our music very seriously. We would really like to find someone we can write some great songs with, record, play a lot of shows locally and regionally, then grow from there. Hopefully make something bigger and better happen. We play high-energy Zimbabwean dance music on giant marimbas and drumset. No marimba experience required, but strong rhythmic understanding and being able to learn thing quickly are big advantages. Here's our website: www.rattletree.com.
This last year, we played over 100 shows all over the region. This next year, I am planning something different.
I am working on more of a 'performance piece' where we will be joined by theater, circus, and dance elements. The idea is to play in each regional city twice a year-so we're probably looking at 4 gigs a month starting in March.
