Pearl is a Peach! (Collie mix) (Austin Dog Rescue)

Pearl is a beautiful 2 year old Collie mix that has just made the journey from the Gonzales shelter to Austin. This girl is super sweet, loves to give kisses and has a sunny personality. She is just settling into her foster home and she is fitting right in. So far she appears crate and house trained and she has nice house manners.

Pearl is a special dog to all of us at Austin Dog Rescue. She is the final dog in a litter of 8 to leave the great people at the Gonzales shelter. Pearl and her siblings were born to a breeder and surrendered to the shelter when they were a few months old. In October 2008 we were able to rescue Pearl�s brother from the shelter and we are so happy that in just over a year, we were able to help bring this entire family out of the shelter and into great homes. We are hopeful for the very same happy ending for Pearl.

We can tell you that Pearl was one of the shelter favorites�.and she is a bit chubby from all of the extra treats and snacks that she was given. We will be putting her on a reduced calorie diet and exercising her to get her into tip-top shape. She does really well on a leash and seems to enjoy walking with her foster pack. She will be a wonderful walking companion, and who knows, maybe even a running buddy! Pearl will do great in any home and we think that she would be great for kids�she is very gentle when taking treats and just has the most loving personality!

We are pleased to introduce to you Quigley! Also known as Mr. Quigs, Quigley J. Quiglemeier and Quigley Piggly! This little guy is such a wonderful dog�he is very well mannered, is very sweet and has a funny, quirky personality! Quigley is shy when first meeting new people, but once you get to know him, he is the perfect companion. He LOVES to go for walks in new places, sit pretty for treats, play with his toys and take naps in his crate.

Quigley is one of those dogs that will just make you laugh! Once he gets to know and to trust you he will run out of his crate to meet you, do a few vertical leaps, sometimes a few spins in the air and then come over for some pets. When we first met Quigley this was not really the case, he was wary of people, a bit of a �fraidy cat as they say, but he has become very comfortable in his foster home, so now that is all in the past.

Quigley will require his own personal patient cheerleader�someone that will always praise him for being brave and curious and for when he practices his commands. He knows sit, down, come and is working on wait�.big steps for a dog that had never been taught commands before.

Quigley is about 45 lbs, is house and crate trained and has been completely vetted (vaccinations, microchip and neutered). He walks beautifully on a leash and is a champion walker� he�d probably be a great running partner as well.

He is waiting for his own personal cheerleader, so if you have a positive attitude and like to celebrate the small things in life, then you are the one for him. We also think Quigley would do best in a home with other dogs so that he can learn the ropes from them in his new home.

Hi my name is Suvi, I am a two-year old collie/shepherd mix, weighing in at... it's not polite to ask a girls weight but if you must know I weigh a very thin 47 pounds.

My foster Dad loves food as much as I do and is keeping food out all the time for me to eat whenever I want so I can gain a bit more weight.

Let's see a bit about myself, I don't show interest with cats, I do love hanging out with my foster sister, Izzy, and she has shown me the ropes around the house. I just had some new photos taken of me and a video with some fun music I picked out (you should watch it if you have some time). I am crate trained and house broken and I don't cry when I am in my crate which makes my foster Dad very happy.

I am not aggressive at all and enjoy long walks on the beach with my leash, or around town if no beach is available. I am fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. I will be updating my photos while I am on the site so check back again and fill out an application if you want to meet me.

Stellar Stella Wants to Play Chase! (Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix) (Austin Dog Rescue)

Stella was rescued from Town Lake after ending up on the euthanasia list. How could such a young, wonderful puppy end up on death row? Simply because she was terrified being in such a big scary place, she would not walk on a leash. But we saw through her frightened demeanor and quickly realized the fabulous dog she truly is! She walks beautifully on a leash (you almost don't need one because she wants to stay right by your side on walks) and has a sweet, very affectionate personality.

Stella is a 6 month old Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix, a little shy at first but warms up in a heartbeat with encouragement and sweet words. She gets along great with other dogs and loves to play and has no resource guarding issues with human or other dogs. She has not shown much interest in the resident cat and no aggression towards them.

Stella would fit well in almost any home; from the first time dog owner to the experienced admirer of herding breed dogs. She likes to show off her herding style at times while playing with other dogs so if she has a play buddy, it would be ideal if her buddy was the "chasee" because Stella loves to be the "chaser!" Keeping this in mind if there are children in the home it would be best that they be over the age of 7 or 8.

Stella has shown that she has nice indoor manners, crates well and has had no accidents in her foster home. She is spayed, current on vaccinations and is micro chipped. There is no doubt in her foster family�s mind, whoever gives this girl a forever home is getting one spectacular dog!

Lovely Little Lady Di has Never Met a Stranger (Austin Dog Rescue)

Lady Di's story began several months ago when she was brought to a local vet clinic after she was hit by a car and her hind leg was badly injured. Her owner was not financially able to handle the long-term treatment that might be involved, so the vet offered to foster the dog and try to find her a more suitable home.

They spent about a month trying to save the leg, but it had to be amputated. The next day, Lady Di was up and running, pretty much like that leg had just been slowing her down. The day after the amputation, she was running around in the back yard with all the dogs at her foster home, and someone across the street started making noise. Lady Di let loose with the most ferocious bark and went to stand in front of her foster mom, trying to protect her. She was very pleased with herself!

At a year and a half old, Lady Di is still in her puppy stages. She's full of puppy energy and mischief. She will chase cats, but only to play--she does not hurt them. If she gets ahold of paper or a book, she will shred it. Lady Di also tens to be little bossy with the other dogs at meal times. A lot of this is running around, telling the other dogs that the food is only for her.

Lady Di has an adorable personality. She loves to snuggle and get belly rubs from anyone--she's never met a stranger. She loves to ride in the car, and is not a wild thing while you're driving. She's well-behaved when left alone at home and is not destructive like some young dogs can be (except for the paper shredding!) She's totally house-trained, and she plays well with other dogs. She is a complete attention hog. If she could, she would be petted 24/7 by her humans.

Lady Di is a small spitz/cattle dog/terrier mix (we think) and weighs in at about 20 pounds. She is up-to-date with vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed, and microchipped.

Hi, my name is Marmie. Well that is what my foster mom calls me cause she didn't know what my other people called me before they let me get pregnant and then took me and my babies to the shelter. I am about a year and a half old and love to run and play with others both human and canine. I prefer smaller dogs or those about my size (12.5" tall, 17" long and about 17 lbs) about the size of a standard dachshund. I'm better suited as an indoor pet but I like to play in the yard. I didn't know my mom or dad but know I'm a mixed breed, I have an underbite but as cute as can be (everyone says so), lovable, playful and have a gentle personality with everyone well, except my foster mom's mean cat that hisses and swipes at everyone (I don't like her much) but other than that, I am friend to all. I am fairly quiet except when I'm playing with others or someone I don't know comes to my yard or house but once introduced to the new person I'm OK with them too.

My foster mom hopes to give me the best Christmas present ever... a forever home through adoption. Soon my foster mom will have all my babies sent to there new homes and in preparing for my new home I have been spayed, had my rabies shot, tested negative for heart worms and am on heart worm prevention, had my first two doses of Frontline flea preventative and been wormed and I'm ready to go to my new forever home.

Moo, the Miracle Mitten Kitten!

The first time I cuddled Moo's tiny body to my chest, I fell in love. Sweet little Moo (actually short for "Shamu" - he's black and white, get it? :) had contracted an awful infection in his eyes, which were swollen to the size of marbles in his tiny head. He was completely blind, and the vet techs for Austin Pets Alive who had rescued him from the euthanasia list at Town Lake Animal Center thought it was certain that Moo would lose his eyes.

Through all the meds and painful cleanings and treatments Little Moo never lost his sweet spirit or his happy nature. He would leap for the sound of our voices every time we'd enter the room. His little head would lay back in our hands and he would just purr while we cleaned his little face. Then as soon as I put him down - zoom! he was off and running to explore, blind as a bat, usually running head-first into the nearest bed post! He would back up, shake his head, then take off rarin' to go again! Nothing slowed this little guy down!

After a few weeks we were amazed and ecstatic to realize that the swelling in his eyes had gone down, and this little fighter was starting to see! He has just loved discovering toys! Over the next couple of weeks the APA vet was not only able to save his eyes, but a minor surgery removed most of the scar tissue from his eyes. He's a beautiful, energetic 4 month old! And now that his vaccinations are up to date, he is fixed and microchipped, he is ready to discover his forever family!

Moo's eyes aren't the perfect shape, and there's still a little scar tissue in the corner of one eye that doesn't need to be removed. His eyes still tear a bit, especially when he plays really hard. Moo will probably need to see a vet occasionally, as he can have a flare-up in his eyes from time-to-time. It's easily treated with an ointment applied 2 or 3 times a day to his eyes, and it's usually cleared up within 3 days. He's not infectious to people or dogs, and none of our three cats or other fosters have every gotten his eye infection, but it could be possible that a sickly cat could catch it to some degree. Moo is a healthy, happy, scrappy little boy, but it's important that his family knows he may need a vet visit from time to time. Moo plays hard, and he loves hard. It's been so fun to see his happy personality develop as he has become healthy and strong. He'll let you know with little chirps when he's hungry, and he sits up on his back legs and reaches up when he wants to be carried or cuddled. As soon as his energy runs out, he looks for the nearest lap or chest to cuddle up on and spread some love! I love it that it's so easy to read his little mind!

Moo loves everyone but especially our young nephews (3 and 6). He can't get enough play time with our two bulldogs, and never tires of baiting and teasing our old, cranky cats and our other foster kitties. His all-time favorite playmate is my sister-in-law's daschund! He would be great with another cat, dog or kids to play with. Because he's such a high energy little guy, it would be good if he had another animal companion or stay-at-home human to keep him out of too much mischief, and lots of fun, crackly toys to keep him occupied. His antics are an endless source of amusement for us! But he's all boy, and sometimes he can be a little too rough-and-tumble with kittens that are smaller than him (he's still a baby himself, so he doesn't realize he's a little older and a little bigger), so it would probably be easiest if he was paired with a cat that is older or bigger than him and can put him in his place when he needs it.

There is a dog that looks very sick with a pink collar. White with brown spots, looks to be a poodle mix of some sort. We tried to feed her and give her water but she didn't want anything. We have six dogs and can't keep her in our home. We live off of Teton and Woodstone Drive. I don't think she will go far. I've attached pictures.

ok, so today on my way home from corpus,i was driving down highway 123 and there was a dog in the middle of the road..just running, So i moved to miss him and also pull over to get him off the road, well he came up be hind my truck and i started to drive off and he was running after my 4runner, so i stopped and picked him up. Let me tell you that one it was raining, and there was a good amount of traffic with no houses really on this part of 123. I couldnt live with myself if i didnt get him to safetly! I am a college student at texas state, and i already have a dog, but this guy is a sweetheart, i dont think he will get much bigger, i thought he was about 5 months when i saw him on the road, but when i looked at him at my house he is prob about a year. I will post pictures of him tomorrow, but he has the markings of a doberman and rot, so but he is maybe like 30 pounds. a little timmid but is enjoying being inside dry and warm. Lolli is a Blue Russian mix. She is shy and meek. She has had a difficult young life. She only has one eye. We don�t know what happened to her before she ended up on Town Lake Animal Shelters� euthanasia list.

She was saved from that horrible fate after Austin Pets Alive! saved her. She developed pneumonia but she fought to survive yet once again.

Such a sweet Love bug. She took some time to trust me but it well worth the wait. Lolli lays in bed and snuggles at my feet. She is great at purring and likes to �make dough�. She sometimes gives little �love bites�. She loves to be petted and will beg for it. Lolli is litter box trained.

I am working to create some sort of animal welfare group and hope to start educating the community, especially the kids, about what animal cruelty is. I am hoping to find someone that can give me some assistance ASAP. We have a dog that showed up close to a year ago. She is a very sweet dog and we have had ZERO issues with her interactions with people (she loves, loves, loves the kids). However, we are having issues with her interactions with our other dogs. We have 2 other females and they are getting into terrible fights. We have to stay on our toes to try to keep the fights from happening. This innocent seeming girl is the instigator of the fights. Without going into a lot of detail my husband is disabled and I have other personal stuff going on as well. I don't have the ability to deal with this on any level. We never intended to keep the dog but because of her apparent breed were afraid to take her to any shelter. We had hoped everyone would adjust with the passage of time but that hasn't happened. We tried getting her spayed. That didn't settle anything. I am looking for a rescue or information on a rescue that can take her. She is too sweet to put to sleep (which, realistically, is what would happen if we take her to the shelter) but she can't stay here anymore.

Ava is a really gorgeous cat, like one you would see on a calendar. She has super soft, plush fur, and a fluffy white collar of fur that frames her face perfectly. She has an angelic look to her with her big round deep golden eyes and furry white paws. She often sleeps on her back with all four paws in the air and she looks so peaceful.

She is like a best friend who always wants to hang out with you and will end up in whatever part of the house you happen to be in. She is not super demanding, but will meow for your attention, and ask for a little love when you come home each day.

She's great because she's over that rambunctious kitten stage of jumping off the walls, but still loves to play a game of chase with the feather toy or chase bugs in the garden. She's a perfect mix of a super mellow kitty with just a little bit of friskiness!

Looking for a good home for a very intelligent dog. She has food and water aggression, so she has to go to a home with no children.

She needs someone with time and I just feel like I can�t provide her with the attention she needs anymore, we�re about to move and I don�t want to put her through a second move, in a year.
Like I said she�s very smart. She is housebroken, clicker trained, Rings the bell when she has to go out, she knows sit, lay down, stay, come & go, hide and go seek, she loves to watch tennis and basketball.
I�m hoping that she can go to someone that has dealt with food aggression before and knows how to handle it because it is to the extreme and she�s been that way since the day I got her at 7 � weeks old.
She�s about 18lbs, with bright blue eyes. She loves to ride in the car. I�m not asking for anything for her, just an exceptionally good home.

I do independent rescue and have set up my spare room just for kittens - have had many babies there from feral communities, from desperate people who are allergic or have dogs, other cats or whatever - just can't keep the kittens. I worm them, de-flea if necessary and get them well if sick (have most of the meds needed on hand). When I get moms I get them spay dates after the kittens have gotten homes and then get them homes.

I would like to get a mom and kittens (or weaned kittens) into my room as I will be kittenless after Xmas Eve. Let me know if I can help you or you know of a mom that needs help. I can take them in now as I have a home for the mom I have now with four kittens that will be picked up Xmas week when they are 8 weeks old.

I am fostering a very sweet 2 year old male Chow/Pyrenees. He came from Town Lake shelter a couple of days ago. He was on the euth list but now he's alive and well!
He is a very calm and gentle dog. He is house trained and knows basic commands, he also walks very well on leash. He doesn't care about our cats and he is doing well with our dogs too. He loves to be outside so he needs a backyard. He is a little nervous inside, it's obvious that he wasn't well socialized and needs help with "new"things. I'm working to get him used to cars but right now he is terrified of them. He is a big teddy bear and just needs someone to give him a chance! Please call or email with questions. Our cat has run away. He's a neutered male, 2 years old. He's mostly white, with a patch on his eye, hind legs and tail that is darker.
