YOUR MISSION:

Provide all the functions of a Senior Service Desk Technician to include:

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Senior data center and facilities engineer is to provide a safe, clean, organized data center environment while continually planning for growth by forecasting needs in advance. Hostway is seeking a technically and mechanically minded individual to oversee data center facilities maintenance and expansion, including electrical, HVAC, and security systems. In addition to working with the local lead staff, this individual will also interface with facilities personnel in other company locations, and with outside contractors and vendors. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma required; a minimum of 2 years of college strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in data center or commercial facilities maintenance.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
• An undergraduate degree in an appropriate technical field.
• A good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in use in a data center environment including feeders, generators, PDUs, cooling systems, and UPS systems.
• Strong knowledge of IT.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and manage one's time effectively
• Exceptional oral and written English communication skills are a definite requirement along with excellent computer skills and Internet proficiency
• Ability to effectively deal with change and ambiguity
• Ability to continually learn new technologies.
• Must be able to use common tools to perform needed facilities maintenance.
• Ability to lift 75lbs.
• Available for on-call duties as necessary
Responsibility: Successful assistance in installation, training, and monitoring of all network implementations.
Duties: This position reports to the Vice President, Training & Certification. Duties include, but not limited to, assisting in the installation of goods to support all customers and resellers. This encompasses any activity necessary to implement successful, efficient and robust networks for the transport of IP based data. Also, assists in the installation and training of network communications. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements; also required to provide training to customers, partners, and affiliates.
Travel: Up to 80% domestic and international travel.
Education/Work Experience: The person must have a minimum of a associates degree in computer science related to networking or equivalent job experience.
Certifications: CompTIA certifications are a plus but not required
