I'm a gay white male, currently staying in the Chicago area but relocating to Austin. I came up here at the urging of family members, after a bad break-up in Arizona (where I was living), and it's turned out to be one of the worst situations I could have gotten myself into. I'm a freelance writer who DOES work online, but the hours are very part-time, and I have not been able to catch up or get ahead since getting here.
While I can pay for things like food and transit (am on public transportation) and partial rent, I am seeking a work/clean/cook for rent situation in Austin, close to downtown/transit as possible, where I could help out with light housekeeping, cooking, or whatever (please, NOTHING sexual, that's not where I'm going at all), in exchange for the first month or two's full rent. Just enough to, in other words, build a base of funds and get settled in and working a "regular" office/clerical job (have started applying already), hopefully with a cool roommate/renter with a big heart who would appreciate a funny, sarcastic ex-standup comic for a roommate. I don't smoke, drink socially but never to drunkenness, am in my forties, and have never and WILL never try drugs of any kind (not even weed). I clean up after myself in common areas, and respect another person's space, place and things as I seek the same. All in all, I have been told I'm great to live with, mainly because I am quiet, yet funny and good company. And no, I don't have a psycho ex or anything like that - the breakup was NOT some big, dramatic one, for sure!
The situation could be temporary or permanent, basically am just seeking a new start and a bit of time to catch up, in exchange for helping YOU make your day or life that much easier. I can give you references to my character and work ethic, and am really sincere and hoping for the same in replies; I need to find a place SOON as I am supposed to be leaving THIS TUESDAY.
