Heart House is a free after-school and summer school program which provides free educational programming to elementary children in underprivileged communities in Austin.
We are seeking volunteers to assist us in including fun, innovative, and creative activities in our summer program, Camp Heart House!
Here are some basic details about Camp Heart House:
*Runs June 16-August 8: 9am-3pm
*There are two sites: Northeast and South Austin
*Each camp serves 60 kids in grades K-6
*On a weekly basis children participate in a variety of activities including sports/swimming, arts and crafts, math and science, language, games, technology, and field trips!
How can you help?
1.) Help us facilitate a curriculum we already have! Some of these programs include:
*Health Rocks!
*Mad Science Lab
*Movement Math
*Sign Language
*Heart House Idol
*Gardening Club
*Student Interest Clubs
2.) Come with your own talents and skill which you would like to teach on a one-time or weekly basis. The possibilities are endless!!!!
And if want some ideas, these are some of the programs we thought would we super cool to offer the kids:
*Photography
*Website Design/Creation
*Animation
*Creative Writing
*Slam Poetry
*Spanish, French or other foreign languages
*Cooking
*Book Club
*Arts/Crafts
