Partners in Reading helps 2nd graders improve reading skills and increase their comprehension. Volunteers use structured materials and activities to provide support and encourage young readers.
Each volunteer session will consist of 3 different activities: guided reading, word recognition, and evaluation of progress after practice and repetition. This is a very structured program with great materials that occurs during the school day in the language arts classroom with the teacher present for support.
**Sign up now to express interest in volunteering for Fall 2008.**
Interested volunteers can register at www.austinpartners.org for the school they prefer. After a Safe Schools background check, volunteers will be contacted about training.
