Iraq vet and family need your help (tacoma, wa)

My name is Marc Barton and I am a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. I have not
filed for bankruptcy yet and hopefully with your help I can avoid that.
I have also contacted the credit counseling services, I will continue to
try but I am getting the same response from all of them. I can't even
afford their monthly payments to pay it off, and I have been told that I
can't even afford to declare bankruptcy. If you look at my monthly
expenses, I barely scrape by month to month and some months are a little
harder. It seems that whenever I get an extra dollar, something comes
up.
I guess I should start at the beginning. I found out in August of 1997
that my son was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. I wanted the best for
him and found out that enlisting in the Army would provide him with full
medical coverage. Within a week I was off to boot camp at Fort Knox, KY.

Currently I am assigned to the 3RD Brigade, 2ND Infantry Division at
Fort Lewis, Washington. My wife, Sarah, and I have 2 sons and a daughter
on the way in June.
I have been deployed to Iraq twice in support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom. During my first deployment, I came home on leave and found a
beautiful house for my family. I purchased the house and even though it
needed many repairs and updates, I was determined to turn it into our
dream home. Shortly after signing all the paperwork, I returned to Iraq
to complete my tour of duty.
Everything was going fine until my last deployment that ended in
September of 2007. I found out that my mortgage was part of the
sub-prime crisis that has hit the market. My intent was to redeploy in
July, refinance my house for a fixed interest rate, and move on. However
my tour was extended 3 months and I couldn't make it back in time before
the ARM adjusted.
Up to July of 2007, I had kept all my credit card payments current and
was on my way to having a good credit score to refinance with.
In July my APR was 6.5% and in August it was 9.5% and now it has reached
10.85%. My payments went from $850.00 a month to $1390.00 a month. On
top of that I have a second mortgage that I took out to purchase
building materials and other items to bring the house together. I
believe I have done a great job on it. I purchased it at $152,000 and it
now appraises at $300,000.
When my mortgage payments started rising, I couldn't keep up with my
other debt such as credit cards, utilities and so forth. I had to fall
back on my credit cards to keep up with some of the necessities and then
I put all other debts to the side and focused on my mortgage payments
because I didn't want to lose my house. I am now facing losing it though
because I cannot get a lender to even look at me for a refinance.
Because of my delinquency on my credit card debt, my credit score has
plummeted and I can't get it back up to a point where a lender will
assist me.
If I could pay off my credit card debt, and continue with my current
payments on my house for 5-6 months, my broker assures me that my credit
score will go up and I will qualify for a lower interest rate. Or if I
could eliminate my second mortgage, it would free that money up to send
to the creditors. I am willing to seek any avenue it takes. Every month I am barely scraping by and can't
save up any money to make payments on my own.
I have tried for the past 8 months to fix this and I have had a few
organizations donate to me so that I can keep my utilities on, but it's
too little, too late. I don't know what else to do. My wife and kids love
our house and after all the sweat equity I have put into it, I would
hate to have it foreclosed. I just remodeled the upstairs so that my
toddler can move up to his own room and his nursery could be used for
the daughter that is due in 2 months.
If there is anything you can do, can you please help me insure that my
family can stay in our dream home?
Volunteer Care Team Training:

When: Saturday, May 17, 2008
Where: The Care Communities Office - 7215 Cameron Rd, Austin, TX 78752
Time: 10:00AM-12:30PM

Here in Austin, between 5,000 and 7,000 of our neighbors are living with AIDS or HIV, and many more are suffering from cancer. Everyone has a story. Everyone feels the impact, and now you have the opportunity to help.

The Care Communities is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization which provides volunteer services for individuals suffering from AIDS or cancer. We offer these individuals non-medical assistance, including emotional and domestic support at no cost.

How do we do that? Through wonderful volunteers that combine into a team to work with a single individual. We call our volunteers Care Team members and the people they work with Care Partners (those with the serious illness). Our volunteers do nothing medical but instead do everyday practical things that help the Care Partner stay in their home. Not only that but we only ask 4 hours a month of their time to work with their Care Partner. Since they work in a team, those hours add up and the Care Partners get a lot of extra help.

There are hundreds of people that we must turn away because more Care Partners exist than volunteers. However, most people would be surprised to know that only a few hours a month greatly benefit our Care Partners.

Typical Care Team activities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with light housekeeping
Assisting with yard work
Helping with special projects (i.e. cleaning garage, moving, gardening, etc.)
Preparing and serving meals and eating together (frequently, company during a meal increases a Care Partner's appetite.)
Socializing by playing cards, watching a video together, or going to a movie.
Listening and allowing the Care Partner to laugh and cry without judgment.
But most importantly, The Care Communities Care Teams provide a sense of love and care by being there for someone who might otherwise feel isolated, alone and without community.

Please consider spending just a few hours a month as a Care Team member. Your help will make a tremendous difference in the life of someone who is facing cancer or AIDS.

If you are interested you can call us at (512) 459-5883 or email our Outreach Coordinator at roger@thecarecommunities.org.

Thank you for your consideration!
Volunteer
project: The local host of this project is a center that promotes social and sport activities in Cancun city. They realize over 34 cultural and sport activities with around 1,300 families in Cancun.
Cancun is a marvel of nature but the population is growing very rapidly. This is why it is very important to educate the children in environmental protection awareness and valorization of their local culture, history and roots. It is very important to create awareness that there is only one planet and to promote values such as flexibility, understanding other cultures, tolerance and team work. This project is organized with the aim to promote voluntary service activities among the children and adults through sports and cultural exchanges. A group of international volunteers is invited to help in the organization of sport events and also to participate in social activities to support the local native people of the Yucatan Peninsula. At the same time, the group will have the opportunity to experience and learn about the local culture, life of local people and the traditions of the Maya culture.

The international volunteers, along with local people, will organize sport events (aquatic sports, football) and will help in the coordination of the events and the participants. After the sport activities, volunteers will participate in a program for protection of the marine turtles and a special species of crab called “the blue crab” that is released in Cancun beaches to prevent its extinction. The participants will help by releasing and counting the baby turtles and help in the transportation of the blue crabs to the place where they are released. Besides these activities, the international team will also participate in reforestation activities in local communities and parks.

NEED HELP FOR SATURDAY (TOMORROW)! It's for a 4 yr old boy! (Austin & Surrounding Areas)

~~I NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP A 4 YEAR OLD BOY!!!~~

Hello Austin! My name is Amanda, I'm organizing a benefit for a 4 year old little boy named Joshua. I NEED YOUR HELP- Now and every Saturday of this month!

I know I'm being VERY TRUSTING by posting this on here....but I believe that there are still good people left in the world! I need help! I'm only ONE person and Joshua deserves all of the help I can get for him! Besides, I think it would take a pretty crazy person to steal from a very sick 4 year old child. I'm putting my faith in the GOOD people of the world! I KNOW YOU'RE STILL OUT THERE, C'MON AUSTIN!!

Starting this Saturday and every Saturday between 1pm and 4pm (Until June 7, 2008), I am organizing small groups to travel around small parts of Austin & the Greater Austin Area to hand out fliers about the benefit/Sponsorship information and collect items for door prizes.
The areas are as follows:
May 10th - North Austin
May 17th - Downtown Austin
May 24th - South Austin
May 31st - TBD

If you would like to help, please email me a short message about why you'd like to help, your availability, and area you are interested in helping with. Also include your contact information! I promise you I'm not a creep (see photos), grab some friends and come help out for a few hours! Everyone wins here (You meet new friends, Joshua gets the help he deserves!)

We (big groups of volunteers) will meet at different locations for lunch around 1pm, so we can get to know each other a little better- maybe make some new friends! We will discuss the "game plan"- what you need to say to people and what type of places we are looking for. After that, you can choose a small group of people you'd like to work with and you and your group can hit your area with fliers and info. Around 4pm we will meet back at a discussed location to give all of the donations back to Me (the benefit coordinator)!! It will be ALMOST painless =P

The Wright House Wellness Center is an Austin based 501 © (3) non-profit organization that serves people with chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and cancer. We are a non-medical facility whose services include traditional outreach, testing, prevention, and education in addition to nutrition services. Our focus, however, is holistic and includes connecting our clients with non-traditional treatments such as massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic to promote overall health and well-being.

Our tight knit group of Clients, Staff and Board Members rely heavily on the wonderful donation of money, time, effort, compassion and material objects from wonderful people like yourself that have the ability to give and make a difference!

At this time we are building a float along with other Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) to represent our caring organizations in the upcoming Pride Parade.

We are looking for some monetary donations as well as
•	33 yards of BLUE silk like or rayon fabric, this will be used to simulate water on the float.
•	13 yards of bright red fabric to make a large AIDS ribbon that will ride on the float.
•	Lumber to help make the float

All parts of this float will be able to be used by our organization after the Parade has ended.
We are excited to be a part of this year’s Austin Pride Parade and hope that your giving heart can help make our dream a reality.

*Any monetary donations not needed for the float will go to other departments of our agency.

You can volunteer locally any day, but consider volunteering abroad to help others while seeing the world. Some organizations will provide free or reduced priced meals and lodging while you are volunteering. All you need to do is decide how you would like to spend your time; helping children, working with nature, or protecting wildlife and where you want to do it: high in the andies, deep in the rainforest, or along a sandy beach.

....A Few Hours for a 4 Year Old... (Austin & Surrounding Areas)

Hi, my name is Amanda, I'm organizing a benefit for a 4 year old little boy named Joshua. I NEED YOUR HELP- Now and in the near future!

Starting this Saturday and every Saturday between 2pm and 4pm (Until June 7, 2008), I am organizing small groups to travel around small parts of Austin & the Greater Austin Area to hand out fliers about the benefit/Sponsorship information and collect items for door prizes.
The areas are as follows:
May 10th - North Austin
May 17th - Downtown Austin
May 24th - South Austin
May 31st - TBD

I know I'm being VERY TRUSTING by posting this on here....but I believe that there are still good people left in the world! I need help! I'm only ONE person and Joshua deserves all of the help I can get for him! Besides, I think it would take a pretty crazy person to steal from a very sick 4 year old child. I'm putting my faith in the GOOD people of the world! I KNOW YOU'RE STILL OUT THERE!

We (big groups of volunteers) will meet at different locations for lunch, so we can get to know each other a little better- maybe make some new friends!

For more info about Joshua, you can check out his myspace @
www.myspace.com/HELPJOSHUA or you can watch his video @
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdC7AL9z5pI

"Rodopski pansion" is one of the biggest social establishments of that kind in Bulgaria, providing home and care for more than 140 young people at the ages of 6 to 16. They attend different high schools in the town.
The socially disadvantaged background of most of the children is considered to be the reason for many problems, which they face in school, in their contacts with other people, in their everyday life. That's why the interaction with other young people from different countries while working, playing, learning together in the frame of an international volunteer project is essential for their socialization and adaptation.

This is a Canadian charity project of four workcamps in support of a teenage orphanage in Bulgaria. Volunteers from 18 to 35 from all over the world are welcome to join these camps.

The sing-a-long is 2-ish to 3 on Sundays, before their church service. I'm moving, so I'm done, but the residents would like a replacement for me. They told me. I bet that even if you don't know hymns, they'd be happy to sing along with other hits they know, like Sinantra or Cash. Please email me if you'd like to take my place.
