Part-Time Contract Web Developer
The Web Developer position is responsible for working with a strategic cross-functional team to develop Web-based user-interfaces on National Instruments global site in nine languages, working in conjunction with designers, writers, and internal client teams. The ideal candidate must possess a strong command of Web standards, cross-browser compatibility, and various Web-related optimization techniques, and content management systems.
Essential Functions
• Collaborate with designers to provide proactive design and development solutions to create complex user interfaces
• Present development solutions, recommendations, and deliverables to clients throughout project lifecycles
• Participate in initial project strategy sessions to help identify and set direction for achieving client objectives
• Translate wireframes and comps into flexible and usable code templates
• Participate in after-hours and on-call support during on a scheduled basis
• Document, communicate, and update development processes and best practices
• Manage concurrent projects on tight timelines
• Demonstrate knowledge of or interest in learning design elements and principles
• Keep abreast of current Web design and development trends and technology
Qualifications
• Two years of professional Web development experience
• Must have excellent problem solving skills and love technical challenges
• Experience working with multilingual content is a plus
• Required experience:
- Developing well-formed cross-browser compatible HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Developing CGIs in Perl
- Working with version control
• Preferred Knowledge Of:
- JavaServer Pages
- Regular Expressions
- XML/XSLT
- Production Art
• Education: 2-year associates degree
- Location: National Instruments -- Austin, TX
- Compensation: Negotiable based on experience.
