Nefertiti held an unusually prominent position, often depicted alongside her husband in offering scenes & even shown smiting enemies, a role traditionally reserved for the pharaoh. The royal couple was seen as part of a divine triad with Aten, serving as the god's earthly representatives. Aten was depicted as a sun disk with rays ending in hands reaching out to the king & queen, demonstrating their direct connection to the deity.
