For sale is a rare 1992 Chevy Camaro B42, Special Police package, 25th anniversary Camaro. Formally a Colorado State Highway Patrol Vehicle. The B4C is actually a factory Z28, that is badged as an RS. This factory B4C special police package was not available to public.
It was a special RPO for State Highway Patrol Agencies. This Z28 was stripped of the exterior aesthetics including the hood blisters, and a lower rear spoiler and the Z28 emblems to maintain a low profile and to “blend in” from the factory.
The Z28 and 1LE components added performance suspension, drivetrain, and brakes from the higher-tier Z28 and 1LE track package. This included the powerful 5.7-liter V8, heavy duty cooling and Corvette Brakes.
Out of 70,007 units produced in 1992 (The last year of the 3rd generation body), only 5,197 were Z28’s. Only 589 B4C RPO were built that year for state agencies. This is one of them, in near perfect condition with only 82,790 original miles.
I have owned it for ~1.5 years. I purchased from original family member that purchased other from Colorado State Highway patrol auction when it was retired from service with ~67k in 1996. (according to docs I have from owner)
Since I have owned I have dome the following:
New radiator
New thermostat (180)
(replaced all sensors due to be factory originals)
TPS sensor
Air temperature sensor
O2 sensor
Ignition module
Air temp sensor
Complete tune, rotor, cap, plugs
Transmission completely rebuilt ($3,100)
New rear main seal
All new rotors, brake pads and bearings
Differential gone through and checked/rear Axle tubes re-welded to pumpkin to beef things up. (Common weak point on these models).
Rear hatch release switch replaced (old one was cracked).
New hood struts
New Center caps for wheels (OE style)
New interstate battery (Costco)
Car was repainted in the past, and is virtually flawless in its original factory arctic white. There is no waves, dents, scratches or peeling on the body/paint. Someone did it right, not a cheap paint job. Exterior I would rate 10/10.
Interior is original. No stains, smells, non smoker.
One little dime size “wear” spot on the drivers side visor. Otherwise interior is 9.8/10.
Has the roll cage that was installed by the Colorado HP.
5.7 Liter TPI V8 w/4 speed OD automatic transmission TH700-R4 (4L60).
Car runs and drives great. No interior rattles or noises when driving (which is rare for a 33 year Camaro (or any car). Runs strong, shifts great, all gauges, lights, heater and AC works. Handles like a beast in the corners, just fun to cruise in and drive.
Why am I selling? I am moving to Northern NV in 3 weeks time. I have a lot of logistics with 2 other vehicles, family, and a dog. I do not want to worry/pay transportation or having to drive back down and trailer 1800 miles. I need to sell asap.
My price is 20K FIRM. No negotiating. I am losing approximately 7k on vehicle that included transportation from Chicago area where it was purchased from. I should be asking a lot more, however, sometimes life is what you need to do. I can get another old car.
These cars are becoming (have become) serious collectors due to limited production numbers. To have one as clean and as original as this is pretty rare considering only 589 were built. How many were totaled, scrapped and auctioned off to just get driven to death. This is a rare piece of GM Police service history and will only gain value and desirability as the years go by.
Please, serious inquires only, no joy driving or tire kickers. Do your research and if you want to deal, great.
I have all documents from the previous owner, GM invoice, build sheet, etc. I have it insured through Hagerty Classic car insurance for full value replacement @~ $550/year, unlimited miles. I drive this car to local car shows and take it out about every 6 weeks for a spin and fuel. Never driven in rain. Kept with car cover in garage. All papers, history, receipts go with new owner.
This car is as clean and straight as it shows in photos.
Please, certified cashiers check from local bank only or cash that will be verified as real.
2 sets of GM keys and the original owners manual are included.
PS. I replaced the RS emblems with the Z29 emblems as you will notice in photos and added the TPI 5.7 STRIP myself for personal preference due to it actually being Z28, however, they are easily removed and added if you wanted to go to that "super original" RS badging. Takes about $20 and 20 minutes. I kept the original RS emblems.
Thanks for looking. If car is posted, its still for sale. Buyer responsibility for transportation etc.
