The 48 Hour Film Project is less than a week away and we're looking to add a few more members to our team. In case you've never done it before, the 48 Hour Film Project is a competition where a few dozen local teams set out to make a short film within the span of 48 hours. The films must be between 4 and 7 minutes and incorporate the genre, prop, character, and line of dialogue assigned to your team at kickoff.
This year, the competition starts on Friday, May 31st at 6 PM and ends on Sunday, June 2nd at 6 PM.
Our team has competed four previous times and, of those, three of the shorts made it to the Top 10 screening showcase. This year, we're looking to add a few new faces to the group. In particular, we're looking for an Art Director, a Sound Recordist, a Hair & Makeup Artist, and a Colorist.
Even if you don't fall into one of those categories, though, and you still want to help out, we'd still love to have you on our team. We can always use more grips, electricians, ACs, and production assistants.
This is not a paid gig. In fact, paying crew members is actually against the rules of the competition. Rather, this is meant to be a fun little exercise, an enjoyable, if intense, way to spend a weekend honing your technical skills. If nothing else, the film will be shown on the big screen and you'll walk away with another project for your reel. And hey, maybe you'll meet new people you want to collaborate with on other, future projects!
So if you want to join our team, just shoot us a brief email with what kind of position you'd like, as well as a little blurb about any past experience you've had, either with the 48 Hour Film Project or just filmmaking in general. Thanks!
