I'd bought a set of KEF 104/2s to restore and thanks to some medical stuff its just been sitting with the restoration 70% complete. The ferrofluid on the original tweeters was changed. One stopped working at that time but it still ohms out good so may be repairable. I bought a replacement set from Midwest speaker ($100) and both sets are included. The speaker pods were repainted and look great.
All the internal woofers were refoamed. Can't remember what the kit cost. But this is the most tedious job of the whole rebuild
I also purchased the capacitor replacement kit from Falcon Acoustics in the UK ($140 shipped)- the only authorized KEF dealer to sell such a kit. Crossover on one side has been recapped. I have not done the second side. All new and takeoff caps included.
The speaker grill cloths are in excellent shape. A few of the posts to insert have broken off. They can be glued back and are included although the grills stay on the way they are.
The veneers could use a cleanup. I got some stick on veneer to replace a small piece that is missing but it is not installed. Some Fombys and will be nice.
With a day of elbow grease you can own these legendary speakers fully restored. All parts here and the worst of the work done! With all the $$ already sunk into parts the speakers themselves are almost free.
