A seal in the control head failed and caused flooding in the house. I bought a new unit but still have the old unit which is 15/16 yrs old.
It is a 32k capacity unit. The tank is a Clack model 0948 (1 cuft). Has large salt tank.
I was quoted $600-800 for a new control head which is what a new systems cost at Homedepot/Lowes.
I have not taken the control valve apart so I don't known if it is repairable. When the leak occurred in the control head it did cause a ground fault and tripped the breaker. While inspecting the unit the day after it failed I did find that the valve control drive was still working when I plugged the unit in. When I reapplied water pressure the system was not leaking. I think it failed during a regenerating cycle and depending on the position of the valve it leaks (my 2 cents). Email me using the system email system and I will try to reply within 24hrs.
