We are a group of homeschooling families who live in the Austin area. Our new community will meet on Mondays in the Arboretum area. If you are interested in joining us and in choosing classical, Christian education for your family, we would love to talk to you more about our plans! You would be getting in on the ground floor of the effort, and would be able to have influence on what events and social activities our children and parents will be doing.

What is Classical Conversations Community Day? From the Classical Conversations website:
“Communities meet weekly during the school year. Trained parent-tutors model skills and facilitate activities that give students opportunities to practice these skills.
Young children enjoy learning in a group setting. They get to play games with the memory work and cooperate on science projects. They have the opportunity to learn to take turns speaking and practicing “loving your neighbor” by listening when your peer speaks or by waiting your turn.
Parents enjoy the community, too. They enjoy time to share ideas with other parents at lunch and having experienced home schooling parents available to discuss challenges. Many parents find the support they need to keep homeschooling through tough times.”
Community Day meets once a week on Monday, starts at 9 AM and ends at 3:00 or 3:30. During that time, the children are split up by age group to review what they did at home during the week. Children ages 4-12 learn many facts about history, math, grammar, Latin, and culture. After age 12, Classical Conversations Community Day offers a very rich program called “Challenge,” which is a seminar where the students discuss classical works of literature, philosophy, art, history, and current events with a paid tutor, and also do many projects such as research papers, science projects, debate, and even etiquette. Some graduates of the program have gone on to do very well on standardized tests and have been granted scholarships at good universities. Worried about graduation, testing, and transcripts? Some of us have done it! Our experienced moms are a wealth of information about how to transition from home schooling to college and to adult life. Let us help!
We are still accepting applicants for paid positions in tutoring on this campus. This will offset the cost of the program to a significant degree. Want to get paid for learning alongside us?
Classical Conversations campuses form groups of like-minded and committed home schoolers who can develop mutual trust and supportive relationships, and are an excellent way to provide social interaction and events for the entire family! We even have book clubs for moms! Join the other moms in discussing some of the best books ever written, many of which are not even in the public school curriculum anymore, but which are the very basis of all of the thought and culture of western civilization. We would love to meet you and share the beauty and truth of these wonderful projects and books, so please contact us if you’re interested. We have an event coming up called “Window Into Challenge,” which describes the program and gives you a chance to ask questions, on April 25th near the Arboretum. Call for details.
