The NHANES Mobile Examination Center (MEC) Radiologic Technologist performs the dual energy absorptiometry (DEXA) scan. The Radiologic Technologist also performs examinations pursuant to study requirements including, but not limited to, testing for anthropometric measures, audiology, balance, and vision, and recording for the dental examiner. They calibrate and maintain the equipment required for the examination tasks, record data and observations in an automated system, and prepare and ship data tapes, files, and other material to contracted reviewers. When necessary, the Radiologic Technologist serves as a resource to facilitate communications between the home office and the mobile examination center.

Candidates must:

  • Have at least an associate’s degree in radiologic sciences;
  • Be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and be licensed by their home state if the state requires licensure;
  • Have at least one year of experience as a radiologic technician in a health care setting with direct hands-on patient care;
  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Have a valid (current) driver’s license that is not under suspension;
  • Be CPR certified or have the ability to obtain CPR certification within the first 3 months of employment;
  • Be willing to commit to work for at least 1 year;
  • Be capable of lifting 35 lbs., as well as packing, unpacking, moving, and storing equipment and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodations;
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week during daytime, evening, and weekend hours; and
  • Have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • FULL-TIME CONTINUOUS TRAVEL IS REQUIRED with a 1-year minimum commitment (two vacation breaks per year).

    This is a full-time nonexempt position and is eligible for overtime pay and benefits. Mandatory paid training will be held. Pay rates are based on experience.

    Benefits include bonuses, paid lodging, daily per diem, company car and insurance, and two annual paid vacations.
