Trump signed an executive order to make homelessness an illegal enforceable offense and place them into involuntary lockdown either jail or mental hospitals. We have a more compassionate option…are taking in strays (animals and sober humans) and are looking for compassionate Bastrop citizens to offer assistance by either donating, voluntarily helping us or giving them a place to lay their heads…In an unused room or outbuilding.
SHITology inc is an established 501c3 nonprofit charity and our project is ‘Cherokee Recovery Village’ giving the sober homeless resources and temporary residence to find a healthy lifestyle. Bastrop CAD was stalling on our property tax exemption application filed in 2019 and the County authorities were harrassimg us about allowing homeless to stay in our RVs, cabins and pitch tents when we have adequate toilet facilities, showers and even laundry facility. We filed a complaint with Texas Department of Licensing and Registration and miraculously BCAD denied our property tax exemption for 2019-2022 and approved it for 2023 forwards after a protest ARB meeting in September 2025. Two Austin television news outlets have aired stories about our facility but refuses to do a story about the tax gouging issue in this county. Bastrop County was demanding a “development permit” to build six primitive cabins from donated pallets and building materials and had been sending environmental inspectors to demand we take down tents and saying no homeless can stay on the property when we have male and female restrooms in our sober lounge and a hot shower house all connected to a septic system. That’s pure, high grade unadulterated bullSHIT so we are using the structures for dog kennels. It seems like working to help the sober homeless is discouraged in Bastrop County even when you are doing everything legally. YouTube channel InRealTime did a video tour/interview in December 2025 and the recording is setting the record straight. TDLR is now in the prosecution phase.
The authorities can't find any legal violations so they use intimidating tactics against our compassionate efforts. Are there any hungry attorneys needing to make a name for themselves in Austin? The local media won’t touch the tax gouging in Bastrop County. It’s ironic that they don’t have residency services for the homeless but they will tax us for offering it. That’s a violation of our civil rights under U.S. Code section 1983. This is the time to give a voice to the real victims of the current economic oppression, Elon Musk, since you set up shop in our county.
