Texas Space Tours creates small-group expeditions from Austin to South Padre Island timed to SpaceX Starship launch windows.
Guests travel together and gather on the shoreline to witness the launch in real time.
The journey is the launch.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS
A high-agency operator role during a defined 4–6 month build phase.
You are responsible for:
• Crew recruitment (Flight Director, Mission Specialist, Purser)
• Guerrilla market development across Austin
• Building the operational run-of-show for the expedition
You work without a playbook. You produce deliverables, not recommendations.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
• Not a social media role
• Not an assistant or coordinator role
• Not an internship
• Not a structured job with defined scope
If you need direction before starting, this is not your role.
OUTCOMES
• Ground-level marketing producing real responses across Austin
• Postcard distribution underway immediately (improv schools, venues, high-signal locations)
• Crew roles filled ahead of launch
• A complete 72-hour run-of-show built before beta
HOW YOU OPERATE
• Move without being told
• Decide what matters and act on it
• Produce artifacts, not plans
• Adjust quickly when wrong
Do not wait for clarity before starting.
FAILURE MODES
This role breaks down if you:
• Need defined scope to function
• Wait for direction
• Prefer planning over execution
For a small number, this extends beyond the build phase.
HOW TO APPLY
Reply with:
• Resume
• Brief responses (3–5 sentences each):
– Why this role fits how you operate
– A specific example of acting without clear direction
– Confirmation you are Austin-based
