POSITION SUMMARY
The Crew Lead must be familiar with and in the process of learning all aspects of landscape
construction to include operating equipment, demolition, site and soil prep, grading, planting all
materials, interfacing with customers, subcontractors, architects, etc.; require minimal
supervision from the Project Manager; and work in a safe manner while assisting to direct a
crew of two to four employees. The Crew Lead must also attend to and complete all paperwork
and administrative requirements related to the job while helping to create and maintain a
professional job atmosphere. The Crew Lead is responsible for leading a landscape construction
crew of up to 8 members to implement landscape projects. You will have a blended role of
leadership, management and putting work in place.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
● Create a daily plan and present to the crew before starting work each morning.
● Direct, supervise, and work with crew members to complete residential projects.
● Ability to delegate to improve efficiency on the job site
● Manage time, productivity, project budgets, and material record keeping spreadsheet.
● Provide consistent and timely communication with customers, team members and
managers throughout the entire project.
● Ensure adherence to plans and quality of work.
● Ability to deliver accountability and development conversations to crew members when
needed.
● Recommend modifications based on field conditions, client requests, and/or supply issues.
● Utilize hands-on training philosophies and demonstrate a strong work ethic through
your example.
● Promote safety, performance and well-being of all crews.
● Perform hardscape installation and maintenance procedures .
● Perform general landscape maintenance including planting and transplanting.
● Able to operate most company equipment: skid steer, mini-excavator, mini-skid steer,
tracked loader, chopsaws, etc.
● Maintain a full team by interviewing and hiring new employees when needed.
● Perform other duties as assigned
KEY COMPETENCIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
to be successful in this role but are not necessarily all inclusive.
● Must possess strong leadership skills with crew and ability to communicate effectively
with management and clients in order to meet project deadlines.
● Must be able to read, understand, and communicate landscape plan drawings and
specification documents.
● Must be able to properly and efficiently complete necessary job site and company
paperwork.
● Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers.
● English and Spanish speaking required
● Must be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills.
● Must be professional in appearance and actions.
● Must be detail oriented and quality driven.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● 3+ years of experience leading a landscape/construction crew
● Full knowledge of how to lay out jobs, follow the plans, layout and install irrigation
systems, work with the customer on changes as they arise, direct employees on and off
site, give final instructions to customer at completion of project for maintenance, etc.
● Must be able to read landscape plans and take a job from start to finish.
● Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and able to drive a company
vehicle.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Must be able to endure repetitive bending and twisting motions.
● Must be able to lift more than 80 pounds.
● Ability to work in all weather conditions.
