Goodwin Farm is nestled on Brushy Creek near Thorndale, Texas. We pasture raise chicken, turkey, cattle and sometimes pigs using sustainable, healthy and humane methods. We also maintain sizeable fall and spring vegetable crops and a fruit orchard using methods that exceed that of organic.
This contract position is available for a man or woman who has a passion for farming, animal husbandry and a desire to participate in raising and growing their own healthy food. In addition to competitive pay, the successful candidate will receive a share of meat, eggs, vegetables and canned product produced on the farm. This candidate will learn how to have control over their food destiny. No prior experience is necessary; however, the ability to follow instructions, diligent effort, initiative and honesty are required.
Tasks will include:
• Caring for livestock
• Establishing and maintaining gardens and orchard
• Harvesting, cleaning and transporting vegetables to market
• Operating farm equipment and machinery
• Weeding and mowing
• Cutting and baling hay
• General farm maintenance, such as fence repair, painting, cleaning and sharpening tools, lubricating machinery, etc.
• Shop work
• Cooking and canning garden product
• Working alone on some days and working with others on other days

Base pay is $15/hr. plus farm share, and will increase with experience.
