Hi, my name is Kris. I teach online keyboard, piano, harmony, and songwriting lessons for producers, singers, songwriters, and creative musicians who want to get more comfortable using the keyboard as a writing tool.
A lot of musicians can hear the kind of sound they want, but get stuck when it’s time to actually find the chords, build the arrangement, or make the keyboard part feel natural. That’s where I can help.
Quick note: if this sounds like it might be a good fit, feel free to reply with a little about your musical background and what you’d like to learn. I’m happy to send over my lesson page, student reviews, and a quick demo video so you can get a better feel for the online setup.
My background started in classical piano, but over the years I’ve expanded into pop, R&B, jazz, rock, film music, songwriting, composition, recording, and production. These days, my teaching focuses on helping students become more fluent and creative musicians, not just people who can push the right notes at the right time. For some students that means learning favorite songs and building basic confidence. For others it means digging into theory, improvisation, songwriting, harmony, or production. Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll shape the lessons around your goals.
My lessons are not just about “learning piano” in the traditional sense, though we can absolutely work on technique and fundamentals. The bigger goal is to help you understand the keyboard as a creative map: chords, voicings, bass movement, melody, rhythm, arrangement, and emotional direction.
We can work on:
Chord progressions
R&B, pop, soul, jazz, gospel-adjacent, indie, and film-inspired harmony
Better keyboard voicings
Writing stronger sections: verses, hooks, bridges, intros, turnarounds
Music theory that connects directly to your songs
Playing by ear
Building loops and song ideas from scratch
Arranging piano parts around vocals
Translating keyboard ideas into your DAW
Learning songs you love and breaking down why they work
I also work with beginners, so you do not need to already be “good at piano” to start. If you’re a producer or songwriter who mostly clicks notes into a DAW, we can build from there. If you already play some keys but feel stuck using the same chords all the time, we can build from there too.
Online lessons are held over Zoom. I use an overhead keyboard camera, high-quality audio, digital sheet music, screen sharing, and video clips when helpful. The setup is designed to make remote music lessons feel clear, personal, and actually useful.
A few words from students:
“Kris has a high level of empathy and is great at encouraging his students. He always makes me feel good about the progress I'm making while still challenging me to be better. I can't recommend Kris enough.”
- Jason
“I honestly feel like I get a lot more value from the online classes than I would have with a teacher during an in-home class.”
- Ting
“Kris is a great teacher with a deep knowledge of music. He’s patient, thorough and most of all the lessons are tailor-fitted to the student which makes learning so much easier.”
- Joshua
