1966 Kent Model 634 Basin Street Bass Body Shaded Mahogany
Bass body ONLY. No neck.
Cool vintage MIJ Guyatone made to be full scale bass!
It was intended to fit a neck with a 33-1/2" scale with a big fat neck profile and a 1-11/16" nut width.
The pickup is powerful and the same construction as the Gold Foils at the time.
The controls are a volume and reverse tone. The tone knob is reverse from the factory and is at full bass sound at 10 and more treble sounding when rolled to 0.
Not aware of the significance of the "Basin Street" name but we can only guess that the blues and jazz were popular during the 1960s and there was a popular Louis Armstrong song titled "Basin Street Blues" from the late 1920s. Also Basin St. was the main street of Storyville, New Orleans, Louisiana, which was well known for its Jazz music roots.
The Kent is used and shows signs of nicks, dings, dents, finish marks, rust, grime, dirt, scratches, bumps, and bruises, but is in otherwise great shape.
