1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Burst finish.
100% original with no repairs. T-Top pickups with untouched solder joints, all original electronics, original frets with plenty of life left. No repairs and is in excellent condition for its age. Some finish checking and small dings throughout that you would expect, the biggest “flaw” is some of the lacquer missing from the neck joint in the cutaway which I have seen before on other Les Paul’s. I’m assuming this is just from years of the wood expanding and contracting, the body being mahogany and this particular year having a maple neck. Straight neck with plenty of adjustability in truss rod, bought it from a reputable shop in South Austin and they checked it all over before I purchased it. Original frets with the fret end binding “nibs” intact. Comes with the good generation Gibson chainsaw case that is fully functional. Also comes with the factory pickguard that I took off, as well as another gibson Nashville bridge of the same era, the factory strap buttons, and extra original Gibson volume/tone knobs which are pretty expensive just by themselves.
Guitar plays and sounds great, neck is on the slimmer side as often found on gibsons of this era. Note that it is a little dirty in the photos and will clean up nicely although looks good as is. The haze where your arm rests on the top of the body is just a smudge and not in the paint. This one weighs 11.2 pounds on my digital bathroom scale.
I am asking $4200 cash or will entertain trades for 90’s Les Paul Standards, early Les Paul Classics (model on headstock), or something similar plus cash depending on what it is. I will not respond to “what is the lowest you will go” or “what is your best possible price”, my best price is the price listed but please feel free to make me a reasonable and informed offer.
