Actual items pictured. No issues or quirks—both ribbons clean, noise floor low when used with a proper high-gain preamp, stereo imaging locked and even. Do not apply phantom power, as it can damage the ribbons.
Originally purchased for tracking drums but session never happened, briefly powered on to verify functionality, otherwise unused. Kept stored in a controlled studio environment, never traveled.
Includes original storage bag, storage case, brochure (pdf manual can be found AEA’s site), and custom 25’ Belden 1503A stereo breakout cable with Neutrik connectors made in the U.S. by a professional cable maker. Swivel adapter not included, but the mic is fully functional and ready to use with any standard mic stand.
Delivers the wide, natural stereo capture the R88 is known for without phase smear or ribbon fatigue. Performs exactly as expected.
Not thrilled to part with it, just not recording much these days.
