Up for sale is a beautiful 1969-1970 Gibson SG Standard Large Guard, aka “Batwing” in its original Cherry finish. This is one of the desirable early-'70s SGs featuring the large batwing pickguard, Lyre Vibrola, humbuckers, and small headstock. The guitar has the look, feel, and tone that made these vintage SG Standards legendary. Lightweight, resonant, and incredibly comfortable to play, with classic Gibson humbucker growl and plenty of sustain. Shows honest play wear, small dings, scratches, and finish checking consistent with a 55-year-old + guitar. The finish has aged beautifully and retains great color. The neck is straight, the frets have plenty of life remaining, and the guitar plays exceptionally well up and down the neck. This is a fantastic example of a sought-after vintage SG that is equally at home in a collection, studio, or on stage. Non-original case included. I'm selling for my friend, who is on tour with Tim McGraw (he set up the guitar before he left), and he wants cash only. Preferred sale in Austin or Houston, TX.
