Price is firm, item is available as long as listing is up. Please no haggling or trade offers. I've priced it for what I want to get.
I've clung to this bass because I love it, but 3 things are prompting me to sell it (though I've started and deleted this post several times).
1. I only use the passive mode so the active electronics are just going to waste on me.
2. I only use the 5th string for literally 2 songs in my various bands, so I just don't really need a 5-string.
3. My collection has grown too large and something has gotta go to make room!
The bridge and saddles are HIGHLY adjustable and you can even alter the string width spacing to your desire.
Passive/Active switch. In passive mode, the treble knob acts as a normal tone knob. In Active mode, you have Treble, mid, bass, and a 3-position switch for the mid's center frequency. Master volume and pickup blend knob with center detent.
This bass sounds, looks, and feels amazing which is why I've found it so hard to get rid of even though it's just mostly wasted on me (with only needing 4 strings and passive electronics). I've found it super sensitive, in a good way. The difference between fingers/pick and right-hand position really makes a difference in the tone, more so than other basses I've played.
Dunlop straploks installed.
I believe this was a special 35th anniversary edition.
"This 5-string solidbody bass offers impeccable playability, huge tones, and major flexibility that all bass players will appreciate. First up comes an ash/flamed maple/bubinga body with an eye-grabbing flamed maple/bubinga top that serves up a balanced, resonant tone. The body is bolted to an ultra-playable 5-piece panga panga/purpleheart neck with a birdseye maple fingerboard. Next comes a pair of Nordstrand Big Break pickups with an active 3-band EQ. for a flexible tone that can growl and thump with the best of them. The Premium SR5FMDX has other superb features that include Ibanez’s Premium fret edge treatment, a TUSQ nut, and a MR5S bridge. The Ibanez Premium SR5FMDX is a bass that’s ready for action onstage, in the studio, and anywhere else you want to play."
