Thinline Tele-Style Electric Guitar by GearIT - $160 (Austin)

This one has a very cool design with a couple distinct features and actually sounds really good!
First, the left third of the body, where the “f” hole is, is hollow, classifying the guitar as a “semi-hollowbody” design; this feature provides some resonance and projection when playing unplugged/acoustically, but also amplified, lends to a little “airiness”, “resonance”, “reverberation”, … whatever you want to engage in debate and call it ;-) , but it’s a subtle quality, which contributes to the guitar’s tone.
Secondly, the bridge pickup is a dual-coil humbucker, equipped with a coil split switch in the push-pull tone control knob, essentially providing a selection between single coil or humbucker mode. With the tone knob pulled, single coil mode is engaged, which will decrease the overall output of the bridge pickup. Push the knob back in, humbucker mode is engaged, boosting the overall output, which can be a very handy tool for playing leads and solos, in a band setting.
Finally, (which I think this is this guitar’s best feature) when the pickup selector is in the middle position, which selects both neck (P90-style single coil) and bridge pickups simultaneously, the pickups are out of phase with one another, likely due to them having the same polarity and this creates a “phasing” effect! If you know Albert King or Peter Green, you know what I mean!
This effect occurs with either mode selected for the humbucker.
This guitar has not seen a hole lot of play, but there a couple of minor surface scratches and a few hazy spots, but overall, really nice!
The frets are “ball-end”, which means they don’t extend right to the edge of the fretboard, but also ZERO fret sprout, so no sharp edges.
I replaced the bridge with a brand new Wilkinson Tele-style one, with 3 brass saddles. A new set of nickel-wound 9-42’s were strung and intonated.
I also added a 0.5mm neck shim in the pocket, which alleviated the height issues originally observed with this guitar.
A padded, fitted gigbag with two pockets, is included.
