Vintage Ludwig 18" floor tom for sale (16" deep). Maple 3-ply with re-rings. This drum sounds HUGE and lives up to the quality and reputation of older Ludwig drums. It has fantastic low-end and sustain.
Pretty sure this drum is from 1969, just at the transition to the first era of Ludwig's iconic blue/olive badge. The black oyster pearl wrap is in great shape; just some minor scuffing/scratches that you can't see unless you look closely. The lugs, tension rods, rims, and wrap all appear to be original. (Note: photos were taken outside as the sun was setting.)
This is a pretty rare drum as far as I can tell. Except for the notes below, it's in very, very good condition!! No problems at all with the shell or bearing edge.
I've had the drum for 20 years and have it used primarily as an easy-to-cart bass drum for rehearsals and small gigs. It sounds absolutely HUGE for its small size. I can't tell you how many audio engineers have turned their head in surprise asking "What the hell is that?!?"
No rust, except for a few places of fleabite-scale rust on both rims (essentially minor, just discovered it upon taking everything apart and cleaning).
There are 2 very small holes drilled in one rim (make it the bottom rim and you'll never see it). If that bothers you, I can swap it with an identical rim; however, it has a bit more rust, and I can't vouch that it is original.
It's missing the original internal dampening mechanism.
The left side of the pointy badge is not affixed to the shell -- this is common with this era of Ludwig drums. It never bothered me, so I left it as is.
