This is a Wishbass 6 string fretless bass in "Scarab" style. If you don't know the brand, check out wishbass dot com. Basically it's a guy in NC who hand-crafts affordable custom basses, usually with outlandish patterns, and a minimum of specs. This bass has 1 pickup and 1 knob, therefore it has 1 sound, but that sound is Quite Good if you ask me.
I've gigged with this a scant few times, and I'm only letting it go because I have hit capacity on the amount of instruments I can keep. Typically this bass would cost over $600 to have made (he charges $100 per string), and it's VERY rare to see a 6-string Wishbass on things like Reverb and eBay (where you'd normally find these).
It's got a nice thick-but-feels-good neck, strings are nice and straight (considering the bridge is just a plastic wedge, that's quite impressive), the body is balanced where it doesn't neck-dive, the wood is very light weight and has what you might call a "rustic" feel. I enjoy its mid-rangey sound, and if you'd like to plug it in and play it before purchasing I can accommodate that (there are also tons of youtube videos showing similar basses and their tone). I also have a basic gig bag and strap I'll throw in!
If nothing else it makes for a great conversation piece. Looks great on a wall, and your friends WILL have questions ha ha.
