The Aguilar OBP-1 is a boost only preamp able to be used in conjunction with active or passive pickups.
The OBP-1 will give you expanded tonal range, adding real lows to your bottom and snap to your high end. Even with the tone controls turned all the way down, your pick-ups will be buffered and keep their clarity even with a long cable run.
Tonally these preamps are aggressive, clear, transparent and have emphasis with the low and low midrange being warm, and with the top end 'presence'. Also, this preamp has a "big" sound. Does not compress the signal like other preamps!
It is recommended to use 18v power for the OBP-1 preamps, but it it works great with 9v.
