I just built this Strat out of new-old-stock parts I’d purchased a couple of years ago. This is similar to Fender’s Player II series, but with a few upgrades. The electronics are the Fender V-mod pickups with American CTS pots, The nut has been swapped out for a black Tusq XL graphite nut, new Fender deluxe locking staggered height tuners, and the all maple neck is a right-handed ‘reverse’ headstock, a la Jimi Hendrix. For a bit of added style, I swapped the plastics for a black pickguard and the Fender off-white knobs and pickup covers; maybe a bit of a classic Gilmour look.
Everything is wired standard, 5-way switching, and a very comfortable heel on these new MIM Strat bodies. Minor swirls on the pickguard, just what you’d see on a demo in the guitar shop. Plastic is still on the tremolo cover.
The Player II series goes for about $750 from the big online retailers and the Jimi model a bit over $1000, so the extra few hundred in upgrades should make this a great deal.
I’ll have a few more things listed too, so if you have something you’re interested in, please reach out.
