This is an exceptional piano. It is a stunning 1891 Steinway Model E. These are not plastic key tops, but are the original ivory and ebony keys are in near pristine condition--almost impossible to find on a piano of this age. The voice is resonant and rich. The sound board has been refinished and "re-crowned". The plate has been "re-bronzed". The strings and tuning pins have all been replaced. The action rails and action struts are made of brass, another feature peculiar to Steinways of this era. The finish has been restored to it's original "ebonized" hand-rubbed satin finish. Also, something exceedingly rare is that this piano comes with the signed original warranty from Steinway of Dallas, dated, October 16, 1891. This provenance alone is an incredible find. The signed warranty, piano, and all parts have matching serial number: 71509, making this offer truly unique. The hardware, e.g. screws, fall board locks, capo bars, hinges, and casters, have been newly nickel-plated. The fall board boasts a metallic, period-authentic, embedded silver Steinway logo--not an modern logo decal. The paper backing for the scroll work is even hand-made paper. The vintage bench is also date-appropriate and has nickel-plated legs to match the rest of the piano. This exquisite Steinway represents a very special opportunity--I do not think there is another upright Steinway of this age with the original, ornately decorated, signed paperwork to match in existence. The warranty has been professionally framed, double-matted, with museum glass, and backed with non-acid rice paper. Email, call or text Monte the number in "contact" for appointment.
