What I focus on:
• Proper hand technique (to prevent injury and get clean tone)
• Timing, tempo, and internal groove
• Traditional patterns (tumbao, 6/8, guaguancó, etc.)
• How to play with drummers, bands, or backing tracks
• How to improvise without overplaying
• How to lock in and sound tight
Who I teach:
Beginners who have never touched a drum
Intermediate players wanting to improve timing, tone, or confidence
Kids, adults — anyone who’s serious about learning
(You don’t need to own congas to start; I can provide a setup during lessons.)
My style:
I’m patient, chill, and honest. I won’t rush you, and I won’t waste your time. If you want a grounded teacher who cares about the music more than the hype, that’s me.
Rates:
$50 per hour — flexible depending on weekly sessions or if you bring a friend.
Lessons are in Austin/RR area.
