The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is a governmental organization serving the 10-county region surrounding the Austin metro area that coordinates with other city and county governments to provide programs and services related to community development, public safety, environmental issues and services for seniors. The Office of the Executive Director has oversight over all program and administrative functions of CAPCOG. The Office of the Executive Director is seeking an Executive Assistant to support the executive director and the administrative duties related to the agency’s board activities. Work involves managing official agency records including contracts, memberships, and archives; managing Executive Committee and General Assembly meetings, minutes, and related activities; handling general correspondence and tracking of key projects, and coordinating administrative procedures and training for agency’s administrative assistants and receptionist related to agency policies and procedures. Education: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent required. Post-secondary education or certification in office administration, business administration, or management preferred.
Experience: Minimum four years of experience in a non-entry level position with duties including office practices and records management, administrative operations involving problem-solving and logistical planning, and managing meeting agendas and minutes required. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated computer skills required including ability to develop spreadsheets, databases, and to function in email and internet applications. Experience working in a governmental entity including knowledge of open meetings and records retention practices preferred.
Education and experience may be substituted for one another.
Salary: $50,000 – $56,000 annualized depending on qualifications
