Fits Volkswagen 1.9 TDI 5-Speed 02J transmissions. It will also fit other VW models that also use the 02J transmission, like a 2.0 or 1.8T Mk4 (1999-2005).
I replaced this particular starter on my vehicle because I have a weak diesel injection pump and had hot starting issues. I upgraded to a beefier 2kW starter Valeo brand as a replacement.
Please note that this unit also has the "round" connector which I THINK is used on earlier models. This is another reason I swapped it out (my vehicle has a square connector)
This unit is in fair condition with some light rust, but is otherwise working. You could use this starter if yours has failed or just use it as a core/rebuild.
