Seeking to cultivate community with 1 kind person so they may also enjoy this peaceful, magical 3 bedroom/1 bathroom 1250 sq. ft. bungalow. I have lived in this cozy gem of a home for awhile, and I have returned to college for a career change. The house is located in the community at the backside of Barton Springs, and neighbors are very kind and look out for one another. This is a very special community to be a part of, and this set-up might be perfect for someone else in college, a professional new to Austin who wants to get to know the city, a professional temporarily working in Austin, someone going through their own life changes, someone who doesn’t like the isolation of living alone, etc.
The available room is:
— 14.5’ x12.5’ — Master bedroom has 3 windows that let in lots of natural light, a new light/fan for breezy airflow, hardwood floors throughout, and a large closet that’s 6.5’ x 2.5’. ($1250 + 1/2 bills per month; estimated to be around $1400 -1500 per month TOTAL)
Within a 5-10 minute walk to Barton Springs and Zilker Park and a 15 minute bike ride into downtown Austin, there’s a variety of nearby enjoyments for someone who likes to explore: nearby Town Lake hike & bike trail, daily adventures down to Barton Springs to take a dip in the waters, nearby greenbelt trails, Zach Theater, Zilker Park, Bouldin Creek, and all the fun of places off South Lamar and Barton Springs. Location is why I’ve lived here for so long and is so close to annual ACL Fest that I enjoy the live music from our backyard! The house has a brand new washer & dryer, 2 bedrooms (one of which I live in), 1 shared bathroom, attached carport I’ve converted into a peaceful patio to kick your feet up in the hammocks, a detached garage that has lots of room for potential storage, front yard and large, gated backyard. The living room, bathroom and my room are already furnished since I’ve lived here for 13 years (open-minded about decor if you have things, too) and the large backyard would be perfect for someone interested in working out at home, enjoying an outdoor movie night, growing a garden, etc. I full-size mattress available for use, if needed, and a matching wooden shelf that can be used in either room - both can be moved into our detached garage space though. We pay $2400 in rent total per month. We’re one of the rare houses in 78704 that pays less than $3,000+/month because I have built a trusting rapport with the landlord for years. I live in the smallest bedroom in the house, and I take care of monthly calculations of bills, and all the yard maintenance. We already have a trusted two-person housekeeping team that visits bi-monthly on Mondays
About me: 40YO who loves decorating for holidays, sunrise running to train for a marathon next year, being out on the river, yoga, growing plants, mindfulness, cheering at Austin FC matches and love my Beagle and her two cat best friends. I left a profession as a school counselor last winter and hope to attain my second Master’s degree to join the medical field in 2026. I work part-time, have a go-with-the-flow attitude and am usually studying or working out when I’m away from work/school. Non-judgmental and 420-friendly even though I don’t smoke.
Lease is until the end of August 2026 then we can evaluate if things are/are not working out together and possibly re-sign for an additional 6-months at a time, but the 9
-month initial supports my application deadlines for future PA school. Available immediately, and you’d have to pass a background check that has a small fee, which is required by the landlord to ensure clear criminal history & prove income. Deposit is a fully refundable $1000.
About you: 25 - 70 YO (not set in stone) who is genuinely KIND and seeking to build a positive, encouraging home environment with another companion. You’re interested in doing your own thing but also enjoy hanging out by the patio fire in a hammock in winter, possible game evenings every once in a while and might enjoy working out together. You might be interested in living a healthy lifestyle, like me, and get along well with others. You pay rent & bills in a timely fashion and are able to provide proof you have an established income.
Love & happiness are always welcome here - therefore, potential additional pets may be welcome in this nurturing environment; however, your pet would need to seamlessly transition into this peaceful home and there’s a $150 -refundable- pet deposit. For example, a dog that chases cats and/or an aggressive animal would not work. You MUST like animals since a dog and two (mainly outdoor) kitties live here because being unkind to animals and/or humans is a dealbreaker.
