Forest Green and Black REI Backpack.
He just *had* to have it but pretty sure he never actually backpacked with it.
To my eye it looks nearly new condition and feels like sturdy (not thin) nylon to me. Padding feels like soft but solid foam rather than that fluffy quilt padding stuff. Straps and part that touches your back are padded. Back part has mesh. Outside of waist straps have some sort of structured (plastic?) as does the inside of the back but not a super rigid frame. Lots of adjustment buckles and straps. Top seems to have both an inner and outer drawstring top. Mesh pockets on either (lower) side but inside is one big compartment with zip access from the side opposite the hiker.
Also has a good sized for a waist pack with a couple of pockets that he says can fit on top of the big pack as well as around the waist. That one he used a few times but it’s in good condition too.
Don’t ask me details—I won’t know the answer. Not a hiker.
Quick rough measurements to give you some idea of the size.
These are not trying to be exact—they were taken laying down and smashed flat. In that state it’s about 20” wide and 32” long. Width across the padded part at top near the shoulders about 12”. I have zero idea of the range of adjustment but fit husband at roughly 6’ and 155 lbs.
$25 FIRM. Location near Andice off 183. Expect to be in north Austin on Tuesday but will have limited time frame for meetup.
Alternatively if anyone knows a way to put this directly into the hands of a homeless person especially a veteran or woman who could use it, would appreciate that information.
