Lake Whitney holds an incredible amount of striped and white bass. Fishing for white bass begins the last weeks of winter in creeks and river channels. The fish are in migration to the annual spawning grounds upstream. White Bass will relocate to the exact place of their hatching every year. Striped Bass do not spawn but will have a mock spawn run following the schools of bait fish. Small jigs, umbrella rigs and crankbaits are all very effective this time year. Mid Spring takes the fish back into the main body where they will remain for summer and fall. Late Spring and the Summer months offer anglers top water action like never seen before. Large schools on the surface with egrets, blue herons and seagulls diving in to the schools of shad is an incredible sight to see and weather permitting, the top water fishing can last all summer long.
