Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Lead Operator / Estimator who can walk a job, accurately price it, and execute it.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who understands excavation work inside and out and wants to be a core part of building a company from the ground up.
You will be responsible for:
Creating accurate job estimates
Helping close deals with customers
Operating equipment and completing jobs
Ensuring projects are completed efficiently and profitably
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Sales
Visit job sites and assess scope of work
Prepare accurate estimates for:
Grading and leveling
Trenching and utilities
Drainage solutions
Pond excavation / land development
Determine equipment, labor, and time requirements
Price jobs based on production rates and site conditions
Communicate clearly with customers and help close jobs
Field Operations
Operate equipment (excavator, skid steer, etc.)
Execute jobs according to plan and budget
Coordinate equipment rentals and deliveries
Manage job timelines and adjust as needed
Ensure quality work and customer satisfaction
Project Oversight
Track job progress vs estimate
Identify and communicate scope changes
Help improve estimating accuracy over time
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in excavation, grading, or site work
Strong equipment operation skills (excavator, skid steer required)
Proven ability to estimate excavation jobs accurately
Solid understanding of:
Soil conditions (rock, clay, etc.)
Production rates and job costing
Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field
Valid driver’s license
Preferred
Experience in the Austin / Central Texas market
Experience with ponds, drainage, or land clearing
Ability to read site plans and basic drawings
Existing relationships with local suppliers or contractors
Compensation
