The High-Voltage Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of high-voltage electrical systems and components for the company’s in-house power grid. This position assists with developing cost-effective plans for new construction and repairs, administers the department’s inventory, and is responsible for opening, reviewing, and closing repair orders, as well as ensuring their accuracy and timely submission.
High school diploma or its equivalent
At least five years of experience working in power distribution or related field
Comprehensive knowledge of power distribution through substations transformers and transmission lines
Ability to troubleshoot faults in transformers up to 200 MVA
Ability to troubleshoot faults in insulators, bushings and other connection points
Ability to troubleshoot and test current transformers and any other metering devices used in high voltage systems
The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Proficiency with using the Microsoft Office suite – i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
Substation maintenance experience
Transformer maintenance experience
Valid Class C driver’s license
Safe driving for the last three years
