The Welder I performs welding repairs and asset fabrication projects at both onsite and off-site locations. This position also assists maintenance personnel when required and performs minor repairs or component replacements while completing quality inspections.
At least six months of welding experience, including the use of arc, Mig and stick welders, plasma cutters and acetylene equipment or possession of a Welding Certification through an educational institution
Must possess own basic tools or the ability to acquire tools upon hire
Must possess own personal welding helmet and jacket
Must pass a pulmonary function test if required by work assignment
Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude, as well as an aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment
Ability to execute basic welding techniques
Familiarity with shop equipment i.e. drill press, cranes, grinders and saws
Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work and progress, and track procurements and status
Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety
Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
At least one-year welding experience
High school diploma or its equivalent
Preventative maintenance background
Automotive shop experience
Knowledge of vehicle parts
Valid Class C driver’s license
Safe driving for the last three years
