1977 Airstream Land Yacht Safari 21’ Room Conversion - $16,000 (central austin)

This vintage airstream has been converted into a guest room suitable for immediate use or for listing as an AirBnB. The interior includes a bedroom area with a two-drawer dresser, two 4’ drawers under the bed, and a bench seat containing two compartments, one of which holds a fire safe.
The floor was replaced with ¾” tongue and groove plywood and finished with commercial vinyl tile. Above the bench seat, a window unit air conditioner has been installed in place of the original window; the original window and screen, as well as the AC and its stand, are included.
The furniture uses welded steel framework secured to the floor, while the woodwork comes from pecan trees that were lost on the property during the 2010 drought. The original wiring and lighting fixtures have been removed; electricity is supplied by an extension cord connected to a standard 120V outlet located in the back bumper compartment. There are two 4-gang outlets positioned on opposite corners of the bed platform, and the A/C was operated using a separate extension cord running outside the airstream.
The exterior is well-preserved considering its age of nearly 50 years, having been covered for the past 13 years to protect it from environmental damage. While the tires maintain full tread, their age limits their use to surface streets rather than highway towing.
