Job Title: Autonomous Vehicle Operator
Location: Dallas, TX and Austin, TX
Pay: $21.00 – $27.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time | Contract

Job Overview

In this role, you will operate autonomous test vehicles during on-road testing while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards, helping collect critical data that supports the advancement of autonomous vehicle technology.

Prior professional driving experience is required. Candidates with rideshare or delivery driving experience (such as Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Amazon, FedEx, UPS, or similar platforms) are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates whose experience is limited to CDL or heavy box-truck driving are typically not the best fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate autonomous vehicles safely and lawfully during on-road testing
• Monitor vehicle performance and system behavior in real time
• Conduct in-field testing to support operational safety and system development
• Prepare vehicles daily for testing, including safety checks and system readiness
• Submit detailed reports to support system improvements and operational insights
• Interact professionally with riders, engineers, and operations staff
• Remain alert, focused, and distraction-free while operating vehicles
• Anticipate and respond appropriately to other drivers, pedestrians, and unexpected events

Requirements

• Valid U.S. driver’s license held for at least 3 years
• Clean driving record with no DUI, drug, or alcohol-related offenses within the last 5 years
• Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and safe driving practices
• Ability to anticipate hazards and react quickly and safely
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and on different road types
• High sense of responsibility and safety-first mindset
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating autonomous or electric vehicles
• Background as a professional driver, driving instructor, or motorsports participant
• Knowledge of vehicle technology or control systems
• Completion of safe driving or defensive driving courses
