Hello!
Seeking any input, advice, redirection to vinyl wrap, or a referral to a local professional electroplating company willing to work on ABS plastic. (No plastic @ Cen-tex Plating Co., Inc Austin.)
I also would be enthusiastic doing this DIY alongside someone who’s done it before as it may be cheaper. From what I’ve read it’s very straightforward.
1) bleach bath to delaminate chrome layer from ABS plastic
2) acid etch ABS plastic to prep for conductive layer.
3)soak in palladium/tin solution for conductivity.
4)electroplate nickel layer, then copper layer
5)DA sand parts of any imperfections nickel layer as stopping point
6)electroplate thick layer of copper.
7) buff and polish to mirror finish.
Buffed and polished mirror copper finish is the goal on 2pc of front and back chrome plated ABS bumper accents, and 5pc chrome widow trim (x2 right & left), 1pc rear Mazda badge emblem.
any input or help is appreciated and will be compensated
