I bought a car from dealer, who replaced the timing belt right before my purchase. But the timing belt suddenly broke after driving about 2,000 miles.
I called dealer and they asked me to send the car to take a look, but they did not tell me what exactly the issues were until the repair was done. Now they asked me to pick up the car. When I asked what had been fixed, they told me that timing belt was broken and replaced and the engine was damaged due to the broken timing belt, and all bent engine volves were replaced and engine was rebuilt.
I asked the dealer to provide written warranty for the repair work they had done, including timing belt and engine rebuilt; they kept silent and continued to ask me to pick up the car. Should I ask dealer again to provide written warranty, if they still keep silent or refuse to provide written warranty, is it reasonable or legal to request rescission of the sale and a full refund? Or what should I do next? Any advice and suggestions are highly appreciated!
